The project
Haiti is going through one of its worst food crises: almost half of the population struggles to get enough to eat. In Camp-Perrin and Jérémie, violence in Port-au-Prince has driven thousands of people to seek refuge with host families who already share limited resources. Droughts, floods and rising prices make the situation worse.
The project first meets the immediate food needs of vulnerable households, then strengthens their self-reliance: family and community gardens, community savings groups (VSLA), access to drinking water and goat rearing for young people. It is implemented directly by ASB. It follows a first phase (HTI2402), from August to December 2024.

What the project does
Food assistance
1,500 households received a food kit worth €150, with priority given to displaced people, host families and women-headed households.
Family and community gardens
About 1,100 households receive seeds, tools and training in agroecological techniques: composting, soil and seed conservation.
Financial inclusion
100 community savings groups (VSLA) let members save and borrow together. Eight project agents were certified as private service providers on 2 July 2026.
Access to drinking water
Six permanent water points are planned in Camp-Perrin and Jérémie, with trained local management committees, for at least 10,000 people.
Goat rearing for young people
150 young people, 75 in Camp-Perrin and 75 in Jérémie, received a breeding goat and livestock training.
Veterinary training
Six young people are taking a six-month course in basic veterinary care, in partnership with ITAVS (Siloé du Sud Agricultural and Veterinary Technical Institute), to offer this service locally.
Gender and participation
Gender analysis guides every activity: sex-disaggregated data, awareness sessions, a team trained in the SPHERE standard.
